Radio Guesthouse – Let Love In

Here we are with one of the penultimate pandemic session with Radio Guesthouse…

A love-themed mix. That’s easy, right? I mean, 95% of all songs ever recorded are about love aren’t they? Just grab a bunch and bang ‘em next to each other – job’s a good ‘un. Or you could take a confection of sugary anthems of unadulterated teenage love and mash ‘em into a gooey cake of sound so sweet it sends you rushing for the bathroom.

Alternatively, you could grab a hanky and dig through the weepy mountains of breakup albums, picking out a load of broken-hearted misery as bitter as Jilted John sucking a lemon while waiting for the bus on a Monday morning, in a blizzard.

But what if you go high and low, happy and sad, plucking heartstrings like guitar strings, and throw in a skunk. What would that sound like? Hit play and you’ll know.

This project was started when Mark Broadbent returned back to Ibiza after an extended trip in Asia to be confronted with the Corona pandemic lockdown of winter 2020 and was finally able to find the time to put into operation a project that he had had in mind for some years whilst travelling the globe listening to other peoples musical choices in the guest houses he found himself in.

About Radio Guesthouse

For Mark Broadbent, having programmed music professionally for festival stages and nightclubs for well over twenty years this was more often than not a very trying experience. So the idea was to collate the perfect guest house soundtrack that anybody could access anywhere in the world at any time of day or night. And find the best music to fit the scene they found themselves in.

Most of the selections in this series are themed and accompanied with a short description more often than not written by Dave Hinchliffe.
