At the begining of 2020 I was nearing the end of a design process for 'The Promise Tree Garden'. It was (and still is) a bold idea, a bespoke space for individuals and community groups to meet, to see art, hear music, watch film, cook and eat together or just sit and contemplate.
Initially designed for a particular space, it evolved into a possible 'pop-up' concept with moveable walls and a flexible internal layout that could be altered depending on the requirements of the space at any given time. A unique tree sculpture inside the garden would (over time), have 'leaves' hung on it by visitors which would represent a promise to someone, something or indeed to themselves.
This pre-covid community art space proposal still has post-covid possibilities.
Concept and Design: Ian Connolly 2020.
